    Description:
    This course is a pre-requisite to becoming and NRA Basic Pistol Instructor.The goal of the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting-Instructor Led Training (LT) is to teach students the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. This 8-hour course goes over both the revolver and semi-automatic action types in great detail. This course is an event starting point for the new or soon to be pistol owner or the shooter looking to become more proficient with their own firearm.Students are encouraged to use their own handgun. Students who do not own their own firearm or are looking to purchase their first firearm may rent our firearms for an additional fee.


    1. Attend the entire class
    2. All handguns and ammo are to be locked in your vehicle until your instructor directs you to get them
    3. Absolutely NO AMMO in the classroom at anytime.
    4. Handgun of choice. Hand guns must be in good working order.
    5. Provide your own eye and ear protection and ear muffs. Foam ear plugs are not allowed.
    6. Ammunition must be brass cased. No aluminum cased or steel cased ammo.
    7. 150 rounds of proper ammo to complete shooting exercise.

New Bern Road Kinston, NC 28504 (252) 527-5058Cost: $250.00Description: This is a 16-hour, two-day course that teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential in organizing, promoting and teaching the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting courses. BIT is included with this course. Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, Instructor Candidates must have completed the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting student course, as well as complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.This course is presented in two parts: basic instructor training, and discipline specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Pistol Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet and NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course student packet. Student fees include range time and targets. Students are encouraged to use their own handgun.     Yes, a time-managed, online course (Today's Hunter) is available for those who cannot attend a regularly scheduled Hunter Education Classroom Course. Upon successful completion of the online course, students must register for and successfully complete the Internet Field Day event and a proctored exam in order to fulfill course requirements.
