    About the Event
    Students must complete the online North American Trapper Education Program course prior to coming to class. Student must bring certificate of completion from online course to complete in-person portion.

    There will be an OPTIONAL session after the class from 1PM to 3PM that will include fur handling and hands-on trap setting. If you plan to attend, please bring a bag lunch.

    Please dress accordingly for all weather as class will continue rain or shine.

    This class will take place in the Neuse Sport Shop Garden Center.

    Description:
    This is a 5-hour course (4 hours in the classroom & 1 hour for the range exercise). Some of the course topics include; handgun safety, parts and operation of a handgun and the basics of shooting. You may bring your own firearm or rent one for only $15. Eye protection and ear muffs are required as well as 50 rounds of brass ammo, which can be purchased at Neuse Sport Shop before the class begins. This class is $75.00.     Description:
    Required NC course to receive a permit to carry a concealed handgun. A certificate is issued at the completion of the course that will be accepted by any sheriff in NC when applying for a Concealed Carry Handgun (CCH) permit. The course includes classroom instruction on handgun safety and operation, concealed carry techniques and on the current NC laws on the use of deadly force. At the end of the course there is a shooting exercise at targets placed at 3, 5 and 7 yards from the shooter and requires 50 rounds of ammunition to complete.

    If you do not have a handgun, you can rent one for an additional fee.

    1. Attend the entire class
    2. All handguns and ammo are to be locked in your vehicle until your instructor directs you to get them
    3. Absolutely NO AMMO in the classroom at anytime.
    4. Handgun of choice. Hand guns must be in good working order.
    5. Provide your own eye and ear protection and ear muffs. Foam ear plugs are not allowed.
    6. Ammunition must be brass cased. No aluminum cased or steel cased ammo.
    7. 50 rounds of proper ammo to complete shooting exercise.

    Overview
    Free NASBLA-approved courses are taught by wildlife officers throughout the year. In North Carolina, any person born on or after January 1, 1988 must complete a NASBLA approved boating education course before operating any vessel propelled by a motor of 10 HP or greater on public waterways.

    Note: This BASIC STUDENT course is a pre-requisite for individuals desiring to become an NRA Rifle Instructor. The NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting. This course is at least eight hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students are encouraged to use their own rifle chambered for rimfire ammunition (.22 LR, .22 WMR, .17 HMR, etc.) Student fees include the NRA Basic Rifle Shooting student training materials, range time and targets.
